Great discussion of the future of US-Iranian relations

Yesterday evening, the Center for Leadership Excellence, with the support of the Department of Political Science and the Honors College, hosted a talk by Dr. Jonathan Cristol of Bard College on ‘Ahmedinejad’s Legacy and the Future of US-Iranian Relations.’

It was very well attended by students, including a good number of Iranian students, and by faculty and staff including, among others, President Gary A. Ransdell, and professors from various departments: Cecile Garmon and Sarah Chace from the Center for Leadership Excellence, Soleiman Kiasatpour and Roger Murphy from Political Science, and Farhad Ashrafzadeh from Electrical Engineering. It was followed by a lively discussion revolving around different perspectives on change and continuity in Iran and in US-Iranian relations.

Dr. Jonathan Cristol is the director of the Bard Globalization and International Affairs (BGIA) Program in New York City. Dr. Cristol has hosted, moderated, and attended discussions with Iranian officials at the diplomatic, ministerial, ambassadorial, and presidential levels. He also teaches a course on ‘The United States and the Modern Middle East.’
